The IPA Congress will be preceded on Monday, 11 June 2012, by a seminar hosted jointly by the Publishers Association of South Africa (PASA) and the International Association of Scientific Technical and Medical Publishers (STM) on the topic "Academic and Professional Publishing and South Africa".  The seminar will include presentations and discussions on the research environment in South Africa and academic and professional publishing in South Africa and internationally, as well as a debate on the subject of Open Access.  This event is an opportunity to bring together representatives from the South African Government and academia with international and local representatives of the scholarly publishing industry.
